William A. Breyer began making his ice cream using a hand-cranked ice cream maker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1866. As the years went by, his ice cream became world famous. Breyers has frequently been cited for its exclusive use of all-natural ingredients. Breyers is now part of the Good Humor-Breyers Company, headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Information on Kemps Foods is explained best by this link to their web site. Harry Burt first put a chocolate covered ice cream bar onto a stick in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1920. Good Humor ice cream was born! Harry Burt introduced the famous bell-ringing white neighborhood ice cream truck; and soon it, and the Good Humor Man who drove it, became staples of American society. Hollywood even made a movie called "The Good Humor Man". Although the neighborhood truck has passed into history, Good Humor-Breyers has grown to be the world's largest ice cream company, with regional plants throughout the United States. Every year, Good Humor-Breyers introduces more new products than any other ice cream company. Wells Dairy was founded in 1913 by Fred H. Wells. Shortly thereafter, he and his brother, Harry C. Wells, formed a partnership to distribute ice cream in Sioux City, Iowa, and in 1935 choose the name "Blue Bunny" for a new ice cream as the result of a contest. The name, and the ice cream, proved overwhelmingly successful. Wells Dairies, now located in Le Mars, Iowa, is the world's largest manufacturer of ice cream in one location.
